专利说明:
2 converts a part of the air flow into a vortex flow, which follows the side of the vehicle adjacent to the corner and prevents soiling of the side from below. The object underlying the invention is that an efficient air vortex can be created by a vortex generator with small dimensions and that such an air vortex is capable of adhering or being drawn to a downstream adjacent surface. This phenomenon is used, among other things, in aircraft wings which are provided with vortex generators on their upper side to prevent early separation of the air flow over the wing. Although a vortex generator can be designed and oriented in many different ways within the scope of the invention, in one embodiment it comprises a substantially vertical guide rail, which is connected at the top to the corner and which has a free lower end. Such a vortex generator can be arranged at the corner without any protruding sharp edges. The guide rail can extend curved around the corner. In particular, the guide rail can be placed in an outwardly open recess which extends around the corner of the vehicle. It can then be recessed in the corner. The recess may be located at a chassis of the vehicle, below a lower end of the cab. Such a recess is usually already available between the cab and the chassis, so that the cab and / or chassis do not have to be redesigned to apply an air deflector according to the invention. An upper end of the guide rail can then also be fixedly connected to the cab. In particular, the upper end of the guide rail can be fixedly connected to a corner panel of the cab. The guide rail can then be permanently connected to the corner panel in advance. Existing vehicles can then also be retrofitted with air deflectors according to the invention, by replacing an old corner panel which may possibly have an older type of air deflector. Other features and advantages of the invention may be apparent from the claims and the following description of embodiments. 10 15 20 25 30 BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG. 1 is a top view of a front corner of a truck equipped with an air deflector according to the invention; FIG. 2 is a front view with broken away parts of a front corner according to FIG. 1; FIG. 3 is an enlarged view of an area provided with an air deflector in FIG. 2; FIG. 4 schematically shows an air deflector connected to a lower end of a part of a corner panel for a truck; and FIG. 5 is a bottom view of a separate air deflector according to FIG. 4. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENT EXAMPLE The one shown in FIG. 1-3 as an example, the truck 10 has a cab 20 which is not resiliently suspended on a chassis 40. The front corners of the vehicle 10 are formed at the cab by a corner panel 24 which is delimited between an upper radiator panel 22 and a side 26. , including a side door of the vehicle. At the chassis 40, the corner is formed by a portion 44 of a bumper, which is integrated between a lower radiator panel 42 and a pair of steps 46. In the corner area between the cab 20 and the chassis 40 there is an outwardly open recess 48 which extends around the corner under the entire corner panel 24 and continues along the lower edge of the door 26. The recess 48 is formed as a result of the cab 20, which is resiliently mounted with overlap on the outside of the chassis 40, having to have a vertical clearance for its suspension movements with respect to the chassis 40. An air deflector 50 according to the invention is arranged in the recess 48. Although only a front cab corner is shown in FIG. 1-3, there is also a corresponding mirror-inverted air deflector at the second, not shown, front cab corner of the vehicle 10. The air deflector 50 is of the type which is called a vortex generator and which by a generally accepted definition can be described as "an aerodynamic surface comprising a small blade which generates a vortex flow, i.e. a rotating, often turbulent fluid flow ”. A characteristic feature of such a vortex generator is that the generated vortex flow picks up rapidly flowing air to an otherwise flow-separated area at a downstream adjacent surface, so that this area is flooded by a turbulent vortex flow. Although an air deflector according to the invention may have other shapes known in vortex generators, the air deflector 50 according to the invention is designed as a guide rail 52 (FIGS. 3-5). The guide rail 52 extends from above and down into the recess 48, curved around the corner, at a distance from the inner curved surface portion of the recess 48, and has a lower end 54 also at a distance from the surface portion below the recess 48. An air flow f (FlG.1) generated by the wind, which enters the recess 48, will strike the guide rail / air deflector 50 at an angle of attack, so that the free lower end 54 (FIG. 3-5) of the air deflector 50, at its trailing edge, converts a part of the flow f to a vortex flow v (so-called tip vortex flow) of the type described above. The flow f will move along the side 26 of the vehicle 10 approximately in the manner schematically shown in FIG. More specifically, in the example shown, the vortex flow will substantially follow the lower part of the side of the door 26 and possibly be guided upwards by the inclined surface of a fender 47 of the vehicle 10. The vortex flow reverses the adjacent area and forms a barrier which prevents the door 26 side is soiled from below by splashes and other dirt particles. Any dirt particles captured by the vortex flow are transported further past the cab 20. The direction of the resultant of the speed wind can vary, but usually comes obliquely from the front, depending on the current wind direction in relation to the vehicle's direction of travel and speed. It is then the reading side of the cab that risks being most soiled, while the windward side is kept clean by the wind. A simple plane, vertical air deflector / vortex generator (not shown) according to the invention could therefore also extend parallel to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle in order to provide at the reading side the necessary angle of attack against the resulting wind speed coming from the wind. The curved design of the air deflector 50 shown can be considered to make it a combination of a guide rail (guide vane) and vortex generator, which should be able to collect more vortex-generating air flow, but which in all situations does not necessarily have to be superior to the simple, flat vortex generator. within the scope of the invention, it is at least also conceivable, as in the case of aircraft wings, to allow the vortex generator, with a suitable angle of attack against the speed wind, to extend perpendicular to the downstream surface to be affected by the vortex flow (not shown). By choosing the angle of attack in one direction or the other, the vortex direction of the vortex flow can also be affected. FIG. 4 and 5 show examples of a constructive embodiment of an air deflector 50 which can be manufactured e.g. of suitable plastic material. The guide rail / vortex generator 52 itself is integrally formed with an angled connecting flange 60. The flange 60 has openings 62 (FIG. 5) for fasteners 64 (FIG. 4), with which the air deflector 50 can be connected to a lower flange portion 25 of the corner panel. 24. As indicated, at least the corner between the leading edge 56 and the lower end 54 of the guide rail 52 may be rounded. Although the corner between the trailing edge 58 and the lower end 54 may also be more or less rounded, it can be determined according to considerations of the extent to which this affects the vortex generating function of the air deflector 50. The height of the air deflector 50 in the recess is suitably chosen so that it, while maintaining its function, does not risk colliding with its lower end 54 with the corner portion 44 (FlG.3) of the bumper during large vertical suspension movements of the cab 20. If this is still unavoidable, it can be possible to in different, not shown ways let e.g. the guide rail / vortex generator 52 itself be vertically resiliently connected to the corner panel 24 or to a remaining part of the air deflector 50, so that the lower end can occasionally be allowed to resiliently gently collide with the corner portion 44 of the bumper. . 3, it may also be possible to allow the lower end 54 to enter unhindered in a through-opening or vertical channel 47 formed in the corner portion 44 during large suspension movements of the cab 20. The above detailed description is primarily intended to facilitate understanding and any unnecessary limitations of the invention are not to be construed as such. The modifications that become apparent to one skilled in the art upon review of the specification may be practiced without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claims.
